After Muzhappilangad, Thikkodi beach is likely to be raised to the status of a drive-in beach. Preparatory works for getting the nod of the tourism department for the project have already started and a detailed project report will be prepared by the architect in a month.
The plan is to introduce all facilities required for a drive-in beach at Thikkodi using the government land. Encroachment of government land in the area is expected to be evicted upon realizing the project.
Thikkodi beach meets all the requirements for the project and if developed it would be a much sought after tourism destination, said P G Rajeev, secretary of District Tourism Promotion Council. It is very close to Veliyamkallu, another tourist destination where the main attraction is the natural engravings on the rocks. "A survey will soon be carried out and a project report will be prepared and we expect to get government nod for the project," he said.
